FIND YOUR STARTING POINT

Everyone starts
somewhere. Start here.

Brand new to the driver's seat or bringing a few lessons with you? Tell Dexter where you're at.

01 / FIRST LESSONS

Never turned the key?

The seat, the mirrors, the pedals. There's a first time for all of it. Start with automatic lessons and give yourself room to learn.

Ask about getting started
02 / FEELING NERVOUS

A few butterflies?

You don't need to turn up feeling confident. Tell Dexter what's worrying you, whether that's pulling away or the traffic behind you.

Talk through your nerves
03 / GOING AUTOMATIC

Had enough of the clutch?

An automatic handles the gear changes. If you've been learning in a manual, tell Dexter what you've covered and what still feels tricky.

Ask about switching

THE PERSON BESIDE YOU

Learning feels easier
with a patient passenger.

Meet Dexter. He's 21, based in Bath and starting out as a driving instructor. Calm, patient and easy to talk to, he's here to help you find your feet behind the wheel.

If something hasn't clicked, say so. Asking again is part of learning. You've got enough to think about without worrying about that.

Cars are a big part of life outside lessons, too. Dexter takes part in track days at circuits across the south of England.

LEARNING IN BATH

Lovely from the pavement.
A bit different at the wheel.

Bath brings hills, narrow streets and plenty of people crossing the road. Driving here means learning to notice what's happening around you, as well as what your feet are doing.

Automatic lessons take clutch control and manual gear changes off your list. There's still plenty to learn. Just one less thing to juggle.

BEFORE YOU START

A few things
you might be wondering.

See every question answered
Can I drive a manual after passing in an automatic?

Passing your test in an automatic gives you a licence for automatic cars only. If you want to drive a manual later, you'll need to pass a separate manual test. Most learners who choose automatic have already decided they don't need to.

Can I start if I'm nervous?

Yes. You don't need to feel at home in the driver's seat before your first lesson. Tell Dexter what's on your mind, whether that's pulling away, roundabouts, or the traffic behind you, and he'll build the first lesson around it.

What if I've already had some lessons?

Say so in your enquiry. Mention whether you were learning in a manual or an automatic, roughly how many hours you've done, and what still feels shaky. Dexter will pick up from there rather than starting you back at square one.

How do I find out about prices and availability?

Ask when you enquire. Include your Bath postcode and the days you can usually manage, and you'll get a straight answer on current lesson prices and whether the times work.
